Cybersecurity Compliant Development Lifecycle

Cybersecurity Compliant Development Lifecycle

Cybersecurity Developmental Flow

Cybersecurity Management: The phase of cybersecurity management begins with a request for quotation (RFQ) from the client. In this step, the client specifies the cybersecurity standards required. Once the project is nominated, the cybersecurity interface agreement (CSIA) is drafted. This agreement outlines the different cybersecurity activities and their distribution.

Our proficient cybersecurity team devises a comprehensive Cybersecurity plan. The plan entails the objectives of the activity, the dependencies on other activities or information, and the details of the personnel responsible for performing the activity. It also includes information about the necessary resources required to carry out the cybersecurity activity, along with the expected duration of the activity, including the start and end points. Additionally, the cybersecurity plan specifies the identification of the work products that need to be produced.

Concept Phase: During the concept phase, we create the initial development cybersecurity concept from the cybersecurity goals of the project. This involves defining the items needed, conducting a Threat Analysis and Risk Assessment (TARA) on these items, and finally, gathering the results of the TARA process. Normally, the OEMs perform this phase. However, APAGCoSyst also has the capability to support or create the TARA when requested. Our cybersecurity team then uses this information to establish the cybersecurity goals for the project.

Product Development: During the next phase of the development process, our team systematically develops the product by drafting the system architecture. The system team works to specify the interface between system sub-components using hardware-software interface specification (HSI). Additionally, the development process includes generating a cybersecurity system design and vulnerability management report.

First, the software and hardware architecture are designed, based on the security requirements for their respective functionalities.
After the architecture is finalized, the detailed system design is created, which will then lead to product development. As part of the architecture document, our cybersecurity team designs both hardware and software cybersecurity measures.

During the final stage of product development, the hardware and software are implemented for the product. At this stage, the team works on software and hardware level including the cybersecurity functions which can be Asymmetric crypto algorithms such as the ECDSA algorithm (Curve P-256), Key-Pair generation capability, and Symmetric crypto algorithms like AES-128bit-CBC, GCM, Hash algorithm – SHA-256, True Random Number Generator, and others.

The cybersecurity team also performs analysis on the implemented security measures and checks all possible attack paths for vulnerabilities. This is an important step to verify the confidentiality, integrity, availability, and authorization in the implementation.

Verification:In the cybersecurity development process, the next crucial step is cybersecurity verification. Our expert hardware and software teams perform unit testing to rectify any product bugs. Subsequently, thorough system integration testing is conducted, and a system integration cybersecurity test report is generated.

In the next phase of the verification process, hardware-in-the-loop simulation (HIL) testing is performed. The cybersecurity team generates a system cybersecurity report and releases the product for post-developmental testing. During this stage, cybersecurity assessment and cybersecurity events reports are drafted.

The product goes through a series of simulations to understand real-world consequences and threats. In the last phase of verification, the cybersecurity team drafts the cybersecurity verification report to ascertain that the product is secure and ready for production release. Once the sample is produced, the product undergoes vehicle testing, which is performed by the customer.

Production and Operations: The project undergoes a cybersecurity assessment, and necessary improvements are made. Production is carried out according to the cybersecurity control plan. The project is then subjected to end-of-the-line testing by our expert embedded testers. The incident response plan is used to respond quickly if the customer or a third party identifies a security breach. Finally, all activities performed to ensure compliance with ISO 21434 are summarized in the cybersecurity case. This case, along with evidence, is shared with the customer.
